Boat Test# 1712
By: Mark King

Limestone, a well-known and popular boat name in the Great Lakes region, starts off 2022 with a new 29-foot dual console model that will appeal to boaters seeking quality, durability, and functionality.

The L-290DC carries on the heritage tradition of top-quality boats that have been the signature of Limestone since Mark Ellis designed and built the first Limestone boat over 35 years ago.

The Limestone Boat Company Limited, headquartered in Collingwood with production facilities in White Bluff, Tennessee – have designed this latest addition to its line-up to continue utilizing outboard engine power in line with industry trends.

The L-290DC complements the brand’s current L-290DC  Cuddy Cabin Day Boat and Fish Boat arrangements. The new boat has a length of 29’ 3” (8.9 metres) and a beam of 11’ 10.8” (3.6 metres). The consoles base power is twin 250 HP engines, with the Max HP being twin 300’s.

It features a powder coated fiberglass hardtop frame with dual opening vents, recessed speakers, LED spreader lights and courtesy lights; a fiberglass windshield frame with tempered glass; a wet bar with Corian countertop, a sink and removable 62 litre cooler; a spacious head with a quarter berth; and luxurious upholstery throughout.

In order to extend your time on the water, Limestone integrated the spacious head area to have a counter and sink, storage, quarter berth, LED courtesy lighting, opening skylight and an electric head with inline macerator and deck pump out along with a 113-litre potable water and holding tank.

The boat also has numerous comfortable areas around the deck. You can relax or entertain in the bow area with the convertible lounge and table, enjoy a snack or meal at the portside L-shaped lounge seating area complete with storage underneath, or take in the view from one or both of the dual fold-down transom bench seats. There’s also a double wide helm seat with independent flip-up bolsters, flip down arm rests, cup holders and a footrest for the captain.

Other standard features onboard include a portside dive door; integrated swim platform with telescoping ladder; anchor locker with stem mounted anchor windlass with remote helm switch; 12V and USB outlets; power assist steering; mahogany steering wheel; starboard windshield wiper; cockpit coaming bolsters; raw water washdown and a freshwater shower; two large fish boxes totaling a combined 280 litres; and AM/FM stereo with Bluetooth and speakers.

The console lay-out has an abundance of space for electronics, accessories and rod-holders and offers insulated cup-holders.

Options available on the L-290DC include air conditioning at the helm and in the head area; underwater lights, ski pylon; removable cockpit table with synthetic teak; stand-alone butane canister grill; SureShade system for aft/cockpit shading/protection; synthetic teak decking; hot water heater; shore power charger package with inverter, and Garmin electronics. With the convenience of a small cabin starboard mid-ship it allows for a head, sink, and baby change area, gear storage, and a place to get out of the weather for a nap. It also gives the family the much-desired “Wind in your hair” experience in front of the windshield whether sitting out lounging while underway or the chance to tuck in behind the windshield in inclement weather.
