Boat Test #1703

When it comes to building Bow Rider boats, no one has had more experience building them than Hurricane. Hurricane is the only deck boat builder that offers a center console deck boat model – a first in the industry as the Sundeck Sport 231 has been designed to meet both family and angler use. With two swiveling and adjustable captain’s chairs behind a large center console with flip up bolsters for leaning against when standing, the Sundeck Sport 231 has seating for a total of 12 people.
The front end of the Sport 231 is a traditional Bow Rider design with comfortable overstuffed upholstery with room for seating six adults. Between the seats is a 20-quart insulated cooler, while under these seats you will find large storage boxes, and there is also a ski and wake board storage hatch under the bows forward deck. Handy standard items on the 231 include a tilt steering wheel, hydraulic steering, a ski tow bar, freshwater shower hose and sink, with an onboard 8-gallon freshwater tank, recessed bow and stern ladders, bow docking lights, and there is also room under the center console for a Porta Potti.
For anglers in the family, there are two recessed rod holders in the port and starboard stern gunnels, a recessed four rod storage rack under the starboard gunnel, and a recessed five box Plano tackle box compartment behind a door on the boats port side that holds the large Plano tackle boxes. The boat has a 20-gallon aerated livewell under one of the rear bench seats that is controlled by a Flow-Rite livewell pump.
Optional useful items would be a T or Bimini top for shade, or a fishing package that includes a swivel seat up on the bow. While the MSRP price is with a Suzuki 150 hp outboard, I would want at least a 200 hp on this hull.
