Boat Test #1735
By: Gordon Cruise

A sideward glance at the new Greenline 45 Fly does not reveal all the innovative features incorporated into this sleek yacht design. You’d have to hover over the water in a drone in order to scout the impressive solar panel array that delivers enough power to ensure your drinks stay cold on the water, without having to fire up the generator while relaxing at anchor. The end result? No noise, no vibrations, no emissions and no disturbing your neighbours as the sun sets on another glorious day on the water. When you include the high performance LiPo batteries, even high load appliances like air conditioning can be run in silence.

The 45 Fly is dressed up with solar panels that produce 8 kW/h per day with the 600 W standard array, with an optional hard-top setup to bump up production to 1,200 W. The full beam Flybridge superstructure expands over the entire width of the yacht, making it the largest in its class.

The bridge helm is mounted portside. Behind the comfortable double-wide captain’s bench is an antenna array, a sturdy stainless-steel unit, with an optional mount for a radome. A unique feature is the emergency bilge pump on the aft deck starboard side. The lower helm offers 5’8” of headroom and a single windshield for unencumbered viewing. Outdoor access is easy, through a starboard sliding door leading directly to the side deck and the boarding gate, for easy, single-handed tie-ups, if necessary.

Ground tackle includes an electric windlass and all-chain rode. Power comes from standard twin Yanmar 250 hp diesels, with optional 370 hp models available, providing a top running speed of 25kts. Every model in the Greenline range is available with a fully electric drive system – you decide.

All in all, the 45 Fly by Greenline delivers on every aspect, inside and out, and with so many options to choose from, your days (and nights) on the water will leave lasting impressions for years to come.
