Nobody makes small, fiberglass runabouts quite like Boston Whaler. With a new keel-up redesign coupled with legendary Boston Whaler quality and reliability, the 160 Super Sport is a perfect example of what a small boat can be.
Standard power for the 160 Super Sport is a 75-horsepower Mercury FourStroke outboard. Spinning a 13.5” x 15” Spitfire propeller, the 160 hits plane in just 3.6 seconds and tops out at 37.7 miles-per-hour. At this speed, the 13-gallon fuel tank provides a range of 63 miles. Best cruise is right at 20 miles-per-hour, where fuel mileage peaks at 7.73 miles per gallon.
While the 75-horsepower outboard offers solid performance, upgrading to the 90-horsepower engine will prove a little extra kick for maximum performance. It’s also a required upgrade if you intend to outfit the 160 Super Sport with the optional ski tow pylon.
Several upgrades are available for the 160 Super Sport, most as dealer-installed options. The standard bench seat can be outfitted with cushions, and a backrest. There are even bucket sport seats that can be installed for ultimate comfort. A windscreen can be added to the console for extra protection and a bimini top will offer shade on sunny days.
Boston Whaler offers the 160 Super Sport in five hull colours, including white, classic desert tan, light blue, light gray, and my personal favorite, glacier green. You can opt for the colour on the entire hull, or just the hull sides, or even just as an accent colour on the standard white hull. They’ll even let you choose from five colours for the Boston Whaler hull-side logo.
