Boat Test #1473
The Avalon Ambassador 2785 RL is one very large pontoon boat. At a deck length of 28’ and an overall length of 29’ 3”, you’ll need to radio ahead to reserve a thirty foot slip at the marina or lunch stop to tie the triple-tube 2785 up in. It can also a very tall pontoon when you add the Decosport watersports tow tower with integral premium sound speakers and bimini top. You’d want to do that if you also opt for the twin outboard package that features power up to twin 300hp outboards mounted on the two outer tubes!
The teak-look flooring runs throughout the boat adding a decidedly nautical flair. The swim platform is wide and features a unique set of aluminum stairs down to the water mounted to the aft of the centre tube, in between the outboards. Through the centreline rear access gate, the twin rear loungers feature LED lighted cupholders and a bright stainless rail around the outside edge for an unrestricted view.
The raised fiberglass Commander helm station features a beautiful high-back Captain’s chair with armrests, a digital helm lies before you with every spec you could want available at the touch(screen) of a button. Forward, the entertainment centre – The Admiral’s Stand – features a freshwater sink, fridge, stainless storage drawers, and an electric wine rack! There’s an equally comfortable co-pilot’s chair with armrests to port opposite the helm.
Forward, twin facing sofas with forward-facing sunloungers wrap around the bow creating a third separate conversation area in addition to the helm and the rear loungers. There’s in-floor storage in the centre tube for all your gear.
The twin Yamaha 300 Racing four stroke outboards on our test boat were finished in a black matt custom finish that truly complimented the boat. Trimmed out, I recorded a top speed of 51 mph – a speed sure to please all 16 of your guests!
