During the Miami International Boat Show, the Power Boating Canada team was invited for a private viewing of Jeanneau’s new power catamaran – their TH33 model. With the introduction of the Jeanneau TH33, the iconic French builder has boldly entered the rapidly growing segment of power catamarans equipped with impressive outboard engines. Building on a proven design lineage originally showcased under the Four Winns brand, the TH33 yacht is the perfect platform for cruising, entertaining, and family voyaging. At Jeanneau’s on-water site, I was given an in-depth tour of this impressive catamaran by Benoît Chapdelaine, Regional Director for North America.

The first thing that strikes you is the standout visual appeal of the TH33. Its twin-hull silhouette blends sleek, contemporary lines with a functional layout that instantly communicates space and performance. The beam of 3.83 m (12’6”) gives the catamaran a bold stance that translates into generous and distinct onboard areas for entertaining. Deck space is designed with socializing in mind, seamlessly combining lounging, dining, and sunbathing for groups — making it ideal for entertaining or relaxed cruising.

Below deck, Jeanneau’s focus on comfort is immediately evident. A large storage bay — with the optional Cabin Pack — converts into a cozy starboard cabin, complete with a mattress, reading lights, and soft natural light through hull windows. This cabin does more than most dayboats: it enables true short-stay possibilities and adds versatility for weekend escapes.

The central galley, equipped with essentials like sink, refrigerator, and optional electric grill, reinforces the TH33’s lifestyle focus. Simple yet stylish, the galley is the perfect spot for onboard meal prep without disrupting social flow. Modular seating and premium interior finishes — offered in hand-stitched leather options — add a personal touch to the onboard atmosphere.

Performance and Handling

The TH33 on display at MIBS had sleek twin Mercury 300hp V8s, and matching Joystick controls, but is also available with twin Mercury 250s or Yamaha outboards. The combined potential of up to 600 hp provides confident acceleration and responsiveness in all types of water conditions.

The catamaran hull excels at stability — both underway and at anchor — significantly reducing roll compared to similar monohulls. This stability, combined with shallow draft (about 0.62 m) limits rolling and provides guests with the comfort we all enjoy. And Benoît mentioned that the TH33 also promises fuel efficiency and easier planing behaviour, meaning owners can expect pleasant cruising speeds without excessive power demands.

Jeanneau has equipped the TH33 with up-to-date electronics, including dual 12-inch Garmin multifunction displays at the helm, plus an additional 7-inch screen for the passenger, make route-planning and monitoring intuitive and reliable. These modern interfaces, paired with intuitive helm controls and ergonomic seating, ensure that even newcomers can feel confident behind the wheel.

The practical touches extend to weather protection features like the integrated windscreen and optional hardtop, allowing comfortable season-round cruising — a notable benefit for owners in variable climates.

The Jeanneau TH33 is positioned as a multifunctional day cruiser and weekend explorer — perfect for families, groups of friends, and owners who value social space, comfort, and ease of handling – a winning design by the Marc LOMBARD / GARRONI Design team.

Benoît says it represents a new category that blends the best attributes of a dayboat with the livability of a larger cruiser. Building on Jeanneau’s decades-long expertise and global support network, this model could redefine expectations for mid-size powercats in its class. And with a Show Price of US$499,900, there was certainly a lot of interest from everyone I spoke with at the event, which was organized by Carolina Manzanera, Marketing Manager at Groupe Beneteau. Carolina coordinated the Jeanneau display like a well-tuned orchestra, and the icing on the cake was a surprise appearance by Tony La Sauce, who entertained clients and show attendees with his unique style of music. Bravo to Jeanneau!
