The things that dreams are made of.

Boat Test #1616

At a 104,000 pound plus displacement, the Ferretti 670 is by far the largest yacht in this issue. All others pale in comparison, and nearly all others may rightly qualify for “tender status” with this yacht.

Viewed from dockside, her bow angle mirrors the stern profile in perfect harmony. Dark glass in-hull and cabin windows are set off against the bright white flawless gel coat and dark grey hardtop on the flybridge level making a bold statement that is topped off with her gleaming polished stainless steel rails and fittings.

Stepping aboard at the stern you’ll find a large wet storage locker for swim and scuba gear. The hydraulic swim platform lowers to create a submerged swim-up bar, and to lift the dinghy.  Up two steps on either side of the aft bench seat to the cockpit reveals a long cockpit table in front of the aft bench – add a few folding Captain’s chairs and you’d have the perfect setup for an outdoor al-fresco dinner. Teak stairpads mounted to a gleaming stainless frame lead up to the flybridge.

Up here you’ll find a massive deck area off to port and aft – great for kids to play on or additional storage for kayaks or bikes while doing the great loop.  Forward you’ll find a huge u-shaped dinette to starboard opposite a well-equipped entertainment centre to port just behind the double wide helm seat. Forward of the helm and dinette is yet another sunpad reaching all the way to the venture with plenty of cupholders within easy reach. Overhead, the forward-sloping arch supports the hardtop and the radar and communications equipment.

Walking forward on the sidewalks, you’ll find up at the bow a most innovative sunpad and entertaining area that uses the full beam and all available space.  A forward facing bench seat wide enough for four is located at the base of the massive windshield. Two additional seats convert to large sunpads when the pedestal tables are lowered down. It’s an amazing entertaining space with an incredible view.

Down in the cabin, every inch of available space was utilized in original and creative ways to accommodate 8 guests and 4 crew members and ensure their privacy at the same time. Step through the cabin doors into what feels like a sunken living room with two facing couches creating a great conversation area in between the massive nearly floor to ceiling windows.  A flat screen TV drops out of site behind the port sofa.  Up two steps to the well-appointed galley featuring a four-burner stove set into a solid surface counter with a stainless sink and generous storage. Opposite, a u-shaped dinette wraps around a glass table.

Continuing forward and down six steps, the standard layout offers three separate and very spacious cabins on the lower accommodations level. However, nothing about this yacht is standard.

The master stateroom features a four-piece ensuite head, it’s own sitting area and large walk-in closet. The forward guest cabin features an island queen berth and a private three-piece ensuite head.  The  third cabin features two single berths and shares access to the day head. The crew cabin is placed between the master stateroom and the engine room.

Power is supplied by twin MAN V8-1200hp engines which should produce a 28 knots cruising speed and a maximum speed of 32 knots.
