Disappear for a few miles or a few months.

The Swift 41 with Flybridge is new for 2020 offering from Beneteau. The design builds on a 44’ trawler hull, intended to make long passages as well as just boot around for an afternoon. There are two full decks onboard and a flybridge above it all.

The lower deck has three cabins and two heads. In total this makes for five bunks below, spread between the cabins. The master cabin has a dedicated ensuite head with separate shower. While the two smaller cabins share one head. The cabin to starboard can also function as a Lazarette, containing additional storage and space for an optional washer and dryer. Both the master cabin and the cabin to port have large, bright windows, complete with an opening porthole for ventilation.

Coming up the stairs to the main deck you enter the lounge and dining area, which is situated forward of the galley. There is a large table that can accommodate up to eight people comfortably, and at night this will convert into a bunk with a privacy curtain. With this addition the Swift 41 can sleep up to seven passengers for overnight trips. On the starboard side of the main cabin there is an interior helm station. This station is fully equipped and the boat can be run from inside if you wish. There is a door on the starboard side that allows access to the outside deck and the walkway along the starboard side.

Just aft of the lounge and helm station is the galley. This is a proper kitchen really, though smaller than you may find on land. There is a fridge, stovetop, oven and a double sink, all surrounded by Corian countertops. Bins and drawers fill out the rest of the storage, making sure you can feed all the guests you’ve brought along! There is hot and cold water on tap, drawn from a 400 litre water tank below that can be further augmented with an optional water-maker.

Continuing towards the stern, there is a large glass sliding door at the aft end of the house, this encloses the galley and everything forward. On the deck aft there is another seating area with a U-shaped table. At the stern is the full-width swim platform, with teak decking, a washdown shower and an ergonomically designed boarding ladder.

Access to the foredeck is gained along the starboard side of the house. You can either walk from the aft end of the boat, or come out through the sliding door at the interior helm station. The entire walkway has stainless rails to ensure safe passage fore and aft. Up forward you will find a large sun-pad which can be folded up or left fully reclined. The windlass is mounted all the way forward, with a bow roller for the anchor, and deck access to the chain lockers. The windlass can be controlled manually, or from either of the helm stations.

The climb to the flybridge starts on the aft deck. A wide ladder made of stainless and teak rises up on the starboard side, coming up between two loungers and a table to starboard. The helm station is right forward, on the centre-line, with all the necessary equipment either installed standard or ready to go as an option.

For propulsion and control, the Swift 41 runs on two diesel engines driving straight shafts and fixed propellers. There are two rudders, a bow and a stern thruster. Horsepower options range up to 300hp per engine, giving a top power of up to 600hp.

Beneteau has crafted an elegant and seaworthy trawler in the Swift 41. Roomy without being too large on the outside, this boat can take you and your guests on many an adventure, or just keep you comfortable in your home port.
