Velocity Powerboats is owned by offshore champion racer Scott McCormick and it’s easy to see his influence on every new model that rolls out of the Sanford, Fla., plant.

The company has been building boats for nearly 50 years and has racked up 16 world speed records and 13 world championships in offshore racing. McCormick, who purchased Velocity in 2018, is responsible for many of the world championships.

Anglers looking to get to their favourite fishing ground faster might consider the 260 Bay Hybrid from Velocity Powerboats. With a 300-HP outboard from Mercury Racing, the 260 Bay Hybrid (26’ LOA, 8’ 5” beam) can top 60 mph and is built rugged enough to take on any water conditions in the bay or offshore. The boat can handle up to 400 horsepower.

The two-person helm with flip-up bottoms is covered by an optional hardtop that can be painted to match the boat. The dash has more than enough space for a depth finder and two 12” Simrad screens, while push-button switches are easily accessible between the screens.

Fishing amenities include a large in-floor fish box, two bait wells, RTIC ice chest with console seat in front of the driver and rod stowage in the gunwales. Thanks to a Bob’s Machine 6” jack plate, the 260 Bay Hybrid only drafts 12” to 14” of water. Velocity provides abundant casting space in the bow, which can also double as seating thanks to removable forward-facing backrests. Velocity offers the 260 Bay Hybrid with upgraded electronic and paint packages, and SeaDek marine flooring.
