From their first 19-foot inboard/outboard powered cuddy cabin to today’s 40-foot Sport Yacht, Monterey Boats has been producing premium sport boats and cruisers in their 200,000 square ft manufacturing facility in Williston, Fla., since 1985, and today they have dealerships worldwide.

Power Boating Canada recently took a look at the Monterey 378 Super Sport, a gigantic bow rider with seating in the bow to comfortably seat six adults and two kids.

The 378SS is an impressively large bow rider/day cruiser with unbelievably great live aboard features both above and below deck like you would never expect to see on a bow rider style boat. Unique to the 378SS’s bow seating is that the fore and aft seatbacks fold down to make a huge sun pad, large enough for you and three of your closest friends to stretch out upon. The 378SS’s radar arch supports a large fiberglass hard top that provides ample shade for the helm area as well as the wrap around cockpit seating that is an ideal place for guests to sit while cruising. In the aft deck area behind the helm, there is also a fold down seat for two that tucks away into the starboard bulkhead.

The helm itself is a work of art with three 9-inch Simrad display screens along with a multitude of flush stainless-steel switches.

In the walkway from the helm up to the bow seating you will find the stairway leading down into the salon and with an 11-foot beam, the salon down below is huge for a bowrider boat. On the port side of the salon is a large head that contains a nice China toilet (a nice touch in a day boat), along with a shower and six ft of headroom. The starboard side of the salon contains a long sofa that converts into a double bed opposite a 40-inch flat screen TV, and further forward amidships in the bow there is a queen size berth.

Standard power on the 378SS is a pair of Mercury 8.2 Mag MPI DTS CAT AXIUS inboards with a combined 760 HP, coupled to a pair of Merc Bravo IIIX’s, while aftermarket power is allowed up to a maximum of 1040 HP.
