From September 25 to 28, 2025, the Jacques-Cartier Basin in the Old Port of Montreal was transformed into a floating carnival for boat lovers, potential buyers and curious tourists. Organized by Nautisme Québec, this annual event is one of Canada’s in-water boating highlights. Once again, Nautisme Québec’s executive director – Josée Côté – managed all the activities in Montréal’s Old Port, working her magic at a frenetic beat, much like a Montréal Symphony Orchestra conductor!
Nearly 100 vessels — ranging from nimble inflatables to sporty cruisers, luxury yachts, electric surfboards, pontoon party barges, and more — were on hand for the curious spectators to the show. Visitors were treated to “Discover Boating” rides — a chance to feel what it’s like to command a ship. Every hour, brave souls strapped in, waved to onlookers, and tried not to hit any floating buoys. Meanwhile, dealers offered demos, guided tours, and live expert talks — useful for nautical enthusiasts who want to upgrade their skills. Quebec-built designs like Armada pontoons and Princecraft boats got star treatment. To spice it up, there was a “Sleep on the Water” contest awarding two nights in a floating lodging, and apps and guides (like Little Secrets of Lake Champlain, Knotik) kept landlubbers navigating the show, while industry folks rubbed shoulders, exchanged secrets, and bragged about the latest hull designs.
The 2025 Montreal Boat Afloat Show delivered a delightful mix of serious craftsmanship, borderline obsession with horsepower, and fun for all attendees. Next year’s edition will coincide with Nautisme Québec’s 30th anniversary, so we’re all in for a treat.
