Boat Test #1436

Montego Bay Pontoons were first introduced in 2012 by Northport Marine, LLC, which also owns MirroCraft boats. They share a production facility in Gillett, Wisconsin, and are quickly making a name for itself on the pontoon boat market.
The ST8524-DLX (24’) is the largest of the Sport Tri-Toon models available, which come in 20’, 22’, and 24’ lengths. A variety of deck designs are available, and ST8524’-DLX buyers have an impressive choice of six different layouts! All models include the same features such as hydraulic steering, 27 gallon (102 L) built in fuel tank, performance lifting strakes, and an aluminum skinned bottom.
The deck layouts vary from a variety of bench/swivel seat configurations. The helm can even be positioned slightly forward in some layouts to accommodate a larger aft deck/swim platform. For the water enthusiasts, an aft boarding ladder is standard. Other notable standard features include a built-in changing room, 10’ bimini, and stainless steel cleats.
The helm is fairly standard on all the Montego Bay Pontoons models available and offers a simple, yet sporty layout. Features such as a 12v outlet, Bluetooth stereo, horn, and stainless steel cup holders are all standard. Also standard is the large helm chair with armrest, however a reclining version is also available as an option.
The 24’ Tri-Toon models is rated for a maximum of 200 hp, and the 3rd centre 25” pontoon increases stability and weight capacities. The hull design apparently also increases steering responsiveness and tighter turning radius are also apparent.
So, no matter what deck layout you choose, you’ll be assured to enjoy a comfortable day on the water. But don’t be fooled by the pontoon layout and think that slow cruising is all that it’s capable of. With a reported top speed of just under 50 mph, this model will be sure to get the adrenalin flowing!
