Carver Yachts, one of America’s most experienced and innovative builders of midsize production yachts, has announced that it will introduce its new flagship, the C50 Command Bridge, at the 2016 Yachts Miami Beach Boat Show in February. With three staterooms, two heads, one of the most spacious layouts in its class, and a wide variety of unique design elements and thoughtful amenities, this will be one of the most exciting new model introductions in Carver’s venerable 60-plus year history.
The elegant, stylish C50 features a distinctive bow shape with raised sheerline, giving the yacht more available interior space as well as more comfortable performance in offshore sea conditions. The single-level, walk-around side deck is easily accessible from the wide-open cockpit with its large, fixed swim platform, ensuring that the C50 will be easy for couples or small families to handle. It also provides effortless access to an attractive foredeck seating arrangement.
In fact, the C50 is all about easy access. Molded steps ascend to the spacious bridge deck, where owners and guests alike will enjoy plenty of comfortable seating and the integrated wet bar with grill and refrigerator/icemaker.

Back in the cockpit, molded-in seating provides additional outdoor accommodations for entertaining as well as transom storage. A sun pad with adjustable-height table, refrigerator/icemaker, Bimini top and hardtop with enclosure are all available options, depending on owner preferences. Also available is a hydraulic swim platform and, for those who are interested in extended cruising with extra support, onboard crew quarters.
Fully opening glass doors and a flush threshold lead to a spacious salon with a gracious forward seating area that’s perfect for entertaining. Large hull windows bathe the interior with natural light and ensure great views for all aboard. In this living space, the Carver design team’s touch is readily apparent: Thanks to soft edges and corners, high-gloss cherry wood and carefully placed accent lighting, the C50 is warm, inviting and homelike.
What’s more, the seamless integration of the forward salon and large aft galley guarantees that no one is left out of the conversation during hors d’oeuvres or meal preparation. For additional convenience, a washer and dryer, a 40-inch television, and a day head located aft to starboard are all available options. For serious cruisers, Carver Yachts also offers a lower helm station to starboard; this will extend your cruising into the shoulder seasons and will ensure that your trip isn’t delayed or ruined if the weather turns inclement. Just cast off the docklines, head inside, and point your bow toward the next port of call.
Just a few steps down from the salon is the C50’s stateroom deck. Owners will enjoy an aft master stateroom with impressive full-beam layout, queen-size island berth and en-suite private head with an expansive stall shower. Family members and guests will appreciate the forward stateroom with queen-size island berth and the amidships stateroom to starboard, which provides comfortable twin berths. The forward and amidships staterooms both have access to the port-side head, which also boasts a large stall shower.
Throughout, Carver’s 6-foot, 6-inch (cabins) and 6’8″ (salon) headroom providing an unparalleled level of live-aboard comfort. Owners can further enhance their cruising experience through a series of additional options, including twin 600- or 715-horsepower Cummins diesel engines, joystick control, bow and stern thrusters, air conditioning, crew quarters and several available generators.
The C50 is much more than her accommodations, unique design elements and onboard equipment, however. Her hull, deck and superstructure feature both hand-laid and vacuum-infused structural and nonstructural fiberglass and core laminates bonded with infused polyester resin for superior strength. Below the waterline, the hull bottom has a vinylester barrier coat and is bead-blasted to ensure optimal bonding with the sprayed-on antifouling paint, which creates an exceptionally smooth running surface. Carver also incorporates fiberglass stringers for structural integrity and better performance, while its unique vacuum-bagging technology reduces unnecessary weight.
Best of all, owners can rest assured that the C50 will deliver a comfortable ride at every turn, regardless of weather and sea conditions. Quite simply, these yachts are built tougher to last longer and run smoother.
Carver Yachts has been building boats in the Great Lakes for more than 60 years, and if a boat can take a beating here, it can take it anywhere. Unlike salt water, fresh water is hard, and those waves are often steep and breaking. The Great Lakes can deliver some of the harshest offshore conditions on the planet.
That’s why Carver’s hulls are supported by an extraordinary stringer system that reinforces the bow as much as the hull bottom. The C50’s hull will be so strong, you can take it anywhere – in salt water or fresh – and have the security of knowing that your flagship yacht is designed, built and backed by one of the industry’s top builders.
