FIRST PLACE WINNERS! PBC's Todd Taylor presents over $4000 in cash and prizes to Gino Larose and Josee Pilon. Their winning hand was a full house. The third weekend Rendez-vous of the summer of 2011 was held up in the beautiful Gananoque 100 Islands area of Ontario. The Gananoque waterfront and marina area was a hub of activity on Friday evening as everyone began to arrive and launch their boats. On Saturday, July 23rd the registration began and afterwards the mandatory Drivers Meeting was held to advise on the safety regulations and the two different routes to be taken depending on the sie of boat entered. Participants took to their boats around 11am and we departed in two starts: the poker run boats first, followed closely behind by the family boats including everything from a large houseboat to cruisers and bowriders. After the first card stop at William's Marine, the two groups enjoyed lunch at Caigers Resort and the Rockland Boathouse Restaurant where they picked up their third card. Back west, through the Gan narrows, the fourth card stop was a test in the captain's boat-driving ability. Boats had to navigate against the wind and pickup the 4th card from a fishnet off the end of the dock at Gordon's Marine by Power Boating Canada staff. Everyone succeeded without a single scratch! The 5th card was chosen from the deck as crews turned in their hands at the registration event trailer. The poker hands were revealed by our ever-entertaining and comical MC Mr. Dave Kirkland after very sunny and fun-filled day on the water. The tension and anticipation built as newly revealed hands beat out others for first, second and third place and the final winners and prizes were awarded to cheers from the crowd. This years event built on the tradition begun last summer, and everyone is already taking about what fun and fellowship next summer's rendezvous will bring.
