AN
EXCITING SEASON LIES AHEAD (22-5)
By William E. Taylor

There’s
no doubt about it that Canada is full of boating opportunities.
From the initial launch in the Spring, to the glorious,
lazy days of Summer, as boaters, we are privileged with
the diverse cruising routes our country has to offer.
This time of year is always exciting, too. As Fall approaches,
there’s no better time to set another course and
head out to enjoy a favourite anchorage a few more times
before the inevitable snow flies. The waterways light
up with a blaze of Fall colours and they are also quieter,
providing the perfect chance to enjoy a relaxing cruising
destination.
But no matter what season it is, here at Power Boating
Canada we take the boating lifestyle seriously. We are
committed to keeping you current on the latest news,
information, boat tests and lifestyle features to maintain
enthusiasm throughout the year.
Inside this issue you’ll find our new model preview,
First Splash, an inside look of the hottest new offerings
to hit the water for 2008. Browse through the pages
to see what lies ahead of the curve and be sure to make
mental notes of the features and boats you like so you’ll
be ready to hit the shows this Winter. From what I have
heard, the Winter events across Canada are shaping up
to be among the best ever. For 2008, the Toronto International
Boat Show is celebrating its 50th anniversary, making
it an event we know you won’t want to miss.
Also inside this issue is a special report on Cummins-MerCruisers’
recently introduced Zeus propulsion system. An exciting
instance where hi-tech meets the high seas, Zeus is
a rear-facing, tunnel-mounted drive assembly designed
for sport yachts and cruisers, and is destined to deliver
optimum performance, high-speed handling and optimum
low-speed maneuverability – whether you’re
at the dock or cruising open water. Improved fuel economy
and longer cruising ranges are just a few of its other
benefits. Be sure to check out this review on page 28.
One of the most exciting responsibilities for myself
and staff here at Power Boating Canada is making the
long-distance trips to the various invitation-only press
launches and boat shows that are currently taking place
across North America. While we walk the slips, we are
constantly on the look-out for new and exciting information
to put in the magazine. One of our biggest stops is
the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show in October and you can
count on us to deliver the latest and greatest news
for our next issue.
Until then, as the season winds down over the next several
weeks, practice the utmost safety while enjoying your
favourite cruising route for one of the last times of
the season. Also be sure to visit the series of upcoming
boat shows as 2008 promises a wealth of new, exciting
products that will enhance your boating lifestyle. |
