Get
With The Action! (22-3)

There’s
a new generation of boating enthusiasts on the water
these days, bringing a level of energy to the waterfront
that we haven’t seen in many years.
In many ways, this injection of interest has been fuelled
by a new wave of water toys – wakeboards, tubes,
and family-friendly items of all descriptions that allow
the younger generation to enjoy their time on the water.
Boating has always been a very family oriented activity,
but the skills needed to master traditional water ski
products have kept the younger generation on the beach.
With the emergence of wakeboards as a safe and exciting
addition to the family’s boating gear, everyone
wants to get in on the action – from six to sixty-six,
boaters are skimming the waves with more enthusiasm
than ever before.
This issue of Power Boating Canada is devoted to a great
extent to the interests of the new generation of boaters
– the innovators who have found a way to include
every member of the family in this wonderful outdoor
lifestyle. Our experts have gathered information and
advice that will enhance your wakeboarding experience,
and expand your horizons beyond the traditional, to
partake of the 21st century approach to fun on the water.
With the season in full swing, it is always a good idea
to pause for a moment and make sure that your boat is
in peak condition, with all structural and mechanical
systems ready to take on a summer of family fun. During
the many events that Power Boating Canada staff attend,
we occasionally see boaters casting off without the
required safety gear on board – why not take this
opportunity to check out your life jackets to be sure
that they are suitable for each of your passengers;
check your safety gear, ropes, and emergency first aid
supplies.
Boating in Canada is generally a safe and enjoyable
family activity, but every year, someone breaks the
rules, and accidents happen. Our credo at Power Boating
Canada has always been “water on the water, beer
at the pier” – in other words, never mix
alcohol with boating – and take the effort required
to assure that all of your family’s memories of
the summer of 2007 will be happy ones. |
