Power
Boating Canada showcases eight hot deckboats of 2007
that provide the performance for watersports, plus several
comfortable amenities for anchorages.
Monterey 243EX
Monterey's 243EX has a
lot of appeal for recreational boaters. A tough runner,
this deck boat has an LOA of 22 feet, nine inches, a
weight of 5,000 pounds and a 20-degree deadrise that
combine
to provide smooth, solid rides. Users will appreciate
the integrated, extended swim platform that's perfect
for swimmers or skiers since it has ample space to prepare
for rides or to lounge in the sun. Two compartments
are just forward and there's also a transom washdown.
A center walk-thru leads to the cockpit. In here, seating
is provided by a large U-shaped, contoured lounge while
two, plush seats are forward for the driver and first
mate. More comfortable seating is in the bow. A standard
cockpit table will enhance entertaining and the 48-quart
carry-on cooler ensures drinks are cold and snacks are
fresh. A total of 10 stainless cup holders are throughout.
Some other highlights of the 243 is the ample storage
space under the port and starboard buckets, the locker
in the sole, and at the helm. Added convenience is provided
by the standard Bimini.

Seaswirl 237 DeckBoat
I/O
From the same company that offers a complete line of
heavy-duty Striper fishing boats, which are rigged and
ready for the offshore arena, comes the 237 Deckboat,
one of the several sport models
under the Seaswirl umbrella that boast plenty of attention
to detail and practicality. While the 237 has a layout
featuring a large expansive cockpit lounge, running
from the starboard transom walk-thru up along to the
portside wet bar, a comfortable driver's chair plus
a large U-shaped lounge in the bow, there's more to
this model than meets the eye. A closer look reveals
many thoughtful appointments such as the aforementioned
wet bar, which comes complete with a cooler, sink, freshwater
and storage space, and an enclosed change room with
a light. The bow offers additional amenities as well.
There's a bow platform with ladder (in addition to the
one found aft), a bow table, rope locker and even storage
under the seat cushions. All vinyl on the 237 is rugged
33-ounce marine-grade. The helm is also impressive with
a depth sounder, compass, and full instrumentation.
A standard AM/FM satellite-ready stereo with a CD player,
Berber carpeting and a Sunbrella Bimini top are even
included. Some options worth checking out include bow
filler cushions, an extended swim platform, and stern
stereo remote.

Larson 204 Escape I/O
The Larson 204 is a deck boat that comes complete with
a fishing package, which includes an 11-gallon aerated
live well, a pair of fishing chairs at the bow and stern,
set of rod holders, fish locator,
plus an outlet for a Minn Kota electric trolling motor.
But that's not to say the 204 can't please other members
of the family who don't fish. The three-step boarding
ladder in the stern, a refreshment center, plus a stern
bench, bucket helm (with suspension) and more seating
in the bow means this 20-foot deck boat can certainly
meet the demands of all day cruising and anchoring.
If water sports are the order of the day, there's a
ski tow eye and an impressive maximum power rating of
320 horses, providing the boost needed for tubing and
skiing. There's also a standard bow table, carry-on
ice chest, and a Clarion AM/FM CD Player with a Sirius
Satellite Radio. Boaters can really spice up the 204
with the available options that include bow filler cushions,
UV-protected cockpit carpeting, a depth finder, an extended
removable platform, plus a remote control for the stereo.

aft bench, with two SuspensionAire adjustable bucket
seats with flip-up bolsters forward. There's additional
seating in the bow along with standard filler cushions,
a telescoping swim ladder, hefty grab rail and two of
the four speakers that drive the sound from the AM/FM/CD/Sirius
satellite stereo. The DX215 also offers snap-in carpeting
and even a Sunbrella Bimini top. Some other appointments
on this deckboat include a carry-on cooler, docking
lights, a large wrap-around windshield and an enclosed
head compartment. When it comes to powering the 215,

Chaparral 214 Sunesta
Watersports. Cruising. Anchoring. The 214 Sunesta from
Chaparral can do it all. Coming in at an LOA of 22 feet,
seven-inches, with a beam of eight feet, four inches,
the 214 has the space to feature a host of
appointments for fun on the water. There's a swim platform
aft, providing easier boarding from the dock and from
the water thanks to the concealed stainless swim ladder.
A large, plush sunpad provides optimum comfort for those
hot days and just forward, inside the deep cockpit,
is an expansive seating arrangement. A large U-shaped
bench, two plush bucket seats and another arrangement
in the bow means no one is left behind at the dock.
All seats are covered with Dura-Life Max premium expanded
upholstery. A thoughtful touch is the small galley,
located immediately to port of the passenger bucket
seat. This feature houses a sink, facet, ice chest along
with handy storage space. More storage is found at the
stern and users can even hide cumbersome gear or water
toys in the in-floor locker. Another highlight on the

Four Winns 224 Funship
After a quick walk-through of Four Winns' 224 Funship,
it becomes very apparent it was made for anchorages.
For instance, the huge, non-skid extended platform will
make boarding easier from the dock, but
what separates this design from the pack is its aft-facing
lounge, just behind the back rest of the bench in the
cockpit. It provides a great spot to prepare for watersports,
and even lends a measure of safety as it's the optimum
location to easily supervise children swimming. It sports
a wide-step ladder to offer easy boarding from the water
and there¡¯s even handy storage space. To starboard
is the transom walk-thru that leads in to the cockpit.
Greeting boaters in this spacious area is huge U-shaped
lounge with two ComfortRide flip-up bolster seats forward.
Some ideal appointments include an enclosed head, a
refreshment center featuring a sink and trash receptacle,
snap-in carpeting and a 36-quart removable cooler. Eight
cup holders are also found throughout. However, even
with all the features in this layout, there's still
ample space to easily move around. But if more space
is required, simply access the bow by moving past the
walk-thru windshield in between the helm and companion
area. Up here is seating for additional guests plus
an additional swim ladder.

to get you to an anchorage, then safely take you back
to port again. But there's no reason to rush thanks
to its fully loaded and spacious cockpit. It comes complete
with a wet bar that boasts a stainless sink, a faucet,
ample storage, along with stainless-steel and solid-surface
accents. Comfort is combined with convenience with the
large wrap-around lounge aft, spacious lounge to port,
and bucket seat at the helm. More plush seating is found
in the bow with backrests. For those longer cruises,

Radio service. The extended swim platform features a
