Misty River Avocet 1794   by Steve Fennell
A tough, dependable entry designed for boaters on the move.

Misty River Avocet 1794It was more than a year ago when Winnipeg-based Internautic Marine Group acquired Misty River Boats. Since then, the company has built on its popular fishing series and runabouts, combining touch-as-nails construction with several functional features.

For 2006, the company highlights many models in its Avocet line, including the 1794 Walk-Through (WT), which is just one of several versions available in this series. Other models include a single console, dual console, back tiller (BT) and CB, featuring a walk-thru and conversion bow.

One of the first appointments Canadian boaters and anglers will appreciate is its high, walk-thru windshield, offering optimum protection from wind and water spray. To starboard is the helm complete with the company’s Deluxe console featuring a tilt wheel with no-feedback steering along with series of gauges. A fish finder is also available as an option. Driver and passenger comfort is provided by three, standard center-hinged seats featuring custom embroidery. An additional pedestal base has been added if more seating is required.

Storage space is abundant. A central rod locker can stow several rods while a large in-floor storage compartment provides room for other essential gear. Anglers will appreciate the aerated livewell /baitwell and bow casting platform, while some other thoughtful appointments include cockpit carpeting, an automatic bilge pump and battery holder. A Clarion M235 CD player, hefty grab handles and interior lights are also included.

Quality creature comforts continue forward in the bow with another pedestal base and a trolling motor pad for the available MinnKota 50-pound-thrust PD trolling motor. A 70-pound-thrust PD trolling motor is also offered.

When it comes to power, the 1794 has a maximum rating of 150 horses and its 30-gallon (113 L) fuel tank means you can travel a little further to that secret fishing hole. Users will also enjoy the benefits of the dual-ply, 3/8-inch, all-aluminum transom that’s designed to provide added strength and accommodate a variety of outboard engines.

The 1794 combines strength with its functionality. In addition to double-riveted construction and an exclusive welding process to provide the utmost flexibility, the company utilizes a light-weight stringer system and a double-plated bow manufactured with CNC precision to ensure all components fit perfectly and maximize durability. Poured foam flotation is also added to increase hull strength, stability and provide a quiet ride while underway
