Glastron GS 259   by Steve Fennell
Ready to move and serve up the fun all season.

Glastron GS 259The GS 259 Sport Cruiser is the latest entry added to Glastron’s GS series and bridges the gap between the company’s popular GS 219 and GS 269. With an LOA of 24 feet, 10 inches and beam of 102 inches, the 259 is the ideal size for family boaters looking for a model that’s neither too big nor too small for day-cruising adventures.

Boarding is made easy thanks to a large, integrated swim platform. It comes complete with a concealed integrated stainless steel ladder, stainless grab handle, ski tow-eye and ample storage space for wet lines or other frequently used boat gear. There’s a transom shower to keep the area clean after those long days on the water and a transom walk-thru with a door conveniently leads into the cockpit.

Family boaters will appreciate the snap-in carpeting along with the spacious seating arrangement that includes an aft bench, dual helm seat and port side chaise lounge. Complementing this layout is a standard refreshment centre featuring a sink and designated space for the standard carry-on cooler. For added convenience, a high-low helm seat with flip-up bolster and sun lounge filler cushions are available as an option.

The helm is a driver’s delight with a neatly arranged dash that sports a tilt wheel, series of chrome bezel Faria gauges, and a compass. Glastron’s convenience package is also available for those who desire an hour meter, depth sounder and auto bilge pump.

Located between the helm and starboard chaise lounge is the entranceway to the cabin. When night falls, the GS 259 has the perfect layout for families and adults alike. With an aft sleeping area and forward berth, privacy for both parties is assured. When the sun rises, everyone can meet at the dinette, which easily converts from the V-berth.

Preparing meals is also convenient thanks to a fully equipped galley featuring a microwave, refrigerator, alcohol/electric stove, sink plus rich cherry wood cabinets and a faux-granite countertop. Rounding out the cabin is a stand-up head compartment, while some extras include a Clarion AM/FM/CD stereo with a Sirius satellite system, three windows, and plenty storage space for clothing, water toys and essential boat gear.

When it comes to powering the 259, a series of engines are available ranging from 220 hp to 320 hp from Volvo Penta or MerCruiser.

There’s a lot to like about this sport cruiser. It offers an ideal layout, plus the comfort and functional features for extended cruises. The 259 also has the performance to take the kids skiing, tubing or wakeboarding, ensuring plenty of excitement all season
