Tough, & Dependable (21-1)

Heavy-duty construction, comfortable cockpits and
plenty of power rank these entries as the ideal choice
for cottage boaters.
Edgewater 205 EX
Classic
styling, a cockpit offering 66 square feet of space
and rock-solid construction are a few of the highlights
that qualify Edgewater’s 205 EX as a practical
cottage boat. Like every model in the company’s
stable, the 205 is built with an all-composite construction
process that includes multiple layers of hand-laid
woven roving fibreglass, along with a one-piece Permagrid
stringer system glassed in as the structural backbone.
In addition, the hull sides and decks are cored with
Divinicell while the transoms feature high-density
Penske Extreme core, reinforced with layers of 3610
multi-axial fiberglass. After learning this, it should
come as no surprise that the 205’s hull is stamped
with a limited, lifetime structural hull warranty.
What’s more is its freeboard of 28 inches for
added security while underway. The power rating is
225 hp, which makes it a suitable contender for water
sports or exciting cruises. It’s also designed
for fishing, and sports many standards including a
recirculating 20-gallon baitwell, aft cockpit bolsters,
four stainless steel gunwale-mounted rod holders,
and rod storage boxes. Other appointments include
two drink holders, a bow anchor locker with drain
and cockpit courtesy lights. There are also a few
options worth considering such as the tackle box,
six-gallon freshwater system and swim platform with
boarding ladder.
