 Grand
Marine is a manufacturer of a long line of reliable
tenders that are durable and ready to accommodate a
variety of motoryachts and cruisers. For 2006, the company
has extended its model line with the Silver Line series,
designed for boaters looking for style, functionality
and top performance in a RIB. One these entries is the
S650L, a 21-footer that can take on the heavy water,
while providing comfort underway or at anchor.
The S650 is backed by an extremely strong transom designed
for outboards up to 200 hp or twin-engine configurations
up to 100 horses. A 150-litre fuel tank comes standard
or users can opt for the available 300-litre tank, which
allows a cruising range of 300 nautical miles. But if
short-range cruising to a quiet bay is the order of
the day, the S650 is tricked out with a series of appointments
and gear.
Ample storage space is found in a moulded-in locker
at the bow and compartment at the stern. There’s
also a glove storage compartment for smaller, valuable
items such as sunglasses or keys.
Seating is provided by a large, foldable soft pilot
seat at the helm that allows the driver and passenger
to comfortably stand or sit while cruising. Passengers
can also enjoy the ride thanks to an aft bench. More
seating is found on a small bench forward of the helm
console and a seating area at the bow. Bow filler cushions
are available to convert this forward seating arrangement
to a large sun pad to catch the rays.
At the helm is a series of gauges plus ample space to
add personal electronics. This console sports a stainless
steel railing and dashboard handle to provide added
security when the waves kick up. If users require more
space for electronics or other gear, a polyester navigation
arch is overhead just aft. It also adds even more of
a sporty profile.
More convenience is offered by a long list of thoughtful
standards. Eight grab handles are found throughout,
along with a double-rubbing strake with splash guard,
bow step plate with an anchor roller, two fair leads
and concealed stainless steel cleat. A folding dining
table for entertaining plus ample storage for food or
drinks are other benefits.
The new entry is available in two other models including
the S650 base version, featuring an empty cockpit for
custom cockpit arrangements, along with the S650 GL
GRAND LUXE, which boasts a number of additional features
and systems. Every model is available with a choice
of MIRASOL or HYPALON tubes.
