New
Developments On The Horizon (20-5)

The
summer of 2005 has been fantastic for boating and the
Power Boating Canada team enjoyed the opportunity to
get out on the water with many of our readers at various
events across the nation. It’s always interesting
to hear your boating experiences and the many suggestions
you have for upcoming issues.
Behind the scenes, our editors and boat testers have
had the opportunity to participate in quite a number
of new product launches for the 2006 model year. While
we are bound to a schedule for providing full details
on many of these products, we will be reporting on new
boating technology in future issues and on our website,
www.powerboating.com
The overall trend in the industry seems to be dramatically
new and innovative designs, with some manufacturers
incorporating the classic styling of the glory years.
In fact, the combination of traditional concepts and
ground breaking technology results with models featuring
exceptional cockpits, luxurious appointments and of
course, performance where it counts.
Engine builders across the power spectrum are gearing
up to launch an impressive choice of models for a variety
of boating activities. All the major players including
Bombardier, Suzuki, Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, Nissan,
Crusader Engines, Volvo Penta, Yanmar, and Caterpillar,
will deliver even more speed and efficiency, which will
undoubtedly meet your needs and even off set challenges
faced at the fuel pumps. To bring you right up to speed
on some of the new power lines, we have a special test
on Suzuki’s 2006 DF150 and DF175 four-stroke outboards
in this issue. Richard Crowder, long-time PBC contributor,
travelled to Branson, Missouri, to sea trial the company’s
mid-range outboards. We weren’t disappointed.
Be sure to check out this test, starting on page 45.
To find out more about the new boat lines, turn to our
Top Picks For 2006 showcase beginning on page 29, which
will inform you on the vast selection of the models
that will soon be available at a dealer near you. Also,
don’t miss the exciting true success story of
the legendary Thunderbird/Formula and the Porter family
who built it to what it is today. In addition to our
products section, new boat tests and regular columns,
we have an exciting issue we just know you’ll
enjoy. (Page Top) |
