If
you haven’t already set a course along some of
Canada’s scenic waterways, now is the perfect
time. There’s nothing more exciting than exploring
shoreside communities or relaxing in quiet, isolated
anchorages, swimming, fishing and basking in the sun.
What’s even better is we are experiencing some
of the hottest temperatures on record, providing the
perfect opportunity to pack our bags and head out on
the open water. To salute this year’s summer boating
season, we have an action-packed issue that will undoubtedly
help you make the most of your leisure time.
To get you started, check out Smart Tips for Boating
Trips, beginning on page 44. There’s nothing more
frustrating than realizing you forgot important essentials
or having a mechanical breakdown while en route to a
far-off destination. From inspecting your canvas to
checking vital engine components, this feature is a
comprehensive checklist to ensure all your gear is in
proper working order and you don’t forget essential
boating and safety equipment.
There’s more – for those who are unsure
of where to cruise this season, we highlight five top
cruising destinations in Eastern Canada. From the majestic
Trent-Severn waterway and Georgian Bay in Ontario to
the winding Saint John River in New Brunswick, the region
is a boater’s playground that serves up excitement.
Don’t miss Handle With Care as Dusty Miller discusses
simple docking techniques for harsh, windy conditions,
while Lifeline columnist Mark King shares insight on
the art of boat towing. This issue also highlights a
collection of outboard engines, Natural Born Tillers,
which includes a selection of the most efficient, tiller-controlled
outboards that are ideal to power yacht tenders and
aluminum cottage boats.
Of course, no issue of Power Boating Canada would be
complete without a series of on-water tests. Starting
on page 22, Power Boating Canada’s Bill Jennings
takes Carver Yachts’ 33 Super Sport through its
paces, while Cruisers Yachts’ 400 Express will
please recreational cruisers with the impressive Volvo
Penta IPS power package. Rinker Boats’ also promises
excitement with its RX1 wakeboard boat. Speaking of
wakeboarding, check out Boarding Call, an array of slick
models designed to deliver high-flying thrills all season.
Power Boating Canada is dedicated to delivering the
boating lifestyle coast to coast 365 days a year, and
is your Number One source of providing you with the
latest boat tests, hot gear and helpful tips to enhance
your adventures with family and friends. (Page
