Check
Loose Parts For Leakage (20-1)
by Steve Horsfall
|
I
was preparing my boat for winter storage and needed
to remove the outdrive. I removed the six bolts and
after a little pressure, I pried the slots off the sides.
Following a little more force, I finally removed the
drive. The problem was I didnŐt know the drive had to
be in forward to do this. Could I have damaged anything
in the process? I donŐt want to put the engine in the
water to check. I also donŐt want to leave the engine
in storage all winter only to find a problem when the
season begins. I would really appreciate any tips on
what to look for.

FINDERS KEEPERS
Is there a website where I could find specifications
on a Mackie powerboat? ItŐs powered by a 140 hp MerCruiser
I/O. Is there any way I could find out when the boat
was manufactured? I also want to know what year the
engine was manufactured. I have access to the boat and
just need to know a little more information before I
consider buying it.

SNEAKY LEAK
I have a 1990 Raven with a 3.7-litre MerCruiser. I am
taking on water through the sterndrive somehow. All
the boots are in good condition after I installed a
new shift cable boot that was leaking. Now, water is
trickling in somewhere else. Do you have any idea where
it might be?
