Princecraft Pro 179 DX SC by Steve Fennell

Princecraft is always creating something new at its manufacturing facility in Princeville, Quebec. Whether they build a new deckboat, a pontoon model or introduce a fishing boat series, they continually offer exciting models for family boaters year after year.

Among five new fishing boats introduced for the 2004 model year is the 179 DX SC, a 17-footer offering a 92-inch beam and ample space throughout to host an abundance of fishing features.

Princecraft Pro 179 DX SCAt the stern there's a recirculating, lighted 39-litre livewell complemented with an anti-spill cover, through-hull drain and post overflow. It's located on the aft platform along with battery storage and pedestal mount. In the cockpit are four more seat mounts, while three pedestal seats come standard. The portside seven-foot rod storage compartment can store several rods and even has supports for security in rough weather. Another compartment is located to starboard.

The driver's console highlights a deluxe plastic dash with McGill rocker switches and indicator lights. Drivers will also appreciate the no-feedback steering system, an electric horn, smoked wind screen with quick release, Lowrance X-51 depthfinder plus the weather protected 50-Watt AM/FM marine-grade stereo with cassette player.

In the bow is a lighted, aerated 20-gallon dual live well with an anti-spill cover, removable minnow bucket, thru-hull drain and post-overflow. A 24-Volt deluxe bow trolling motor panel, a trolling motor pad and a Marinco plug and receptacle are also included. The anchor storage compartment and another pedestal mount are added touches.

Some other features found include navigation lights, a built-in 132-litre fuel tank, an interior light, a fire extinguisher and carpeted aluminum hatch lids.

Rounding out the 179 are stainless steel bow and stern eyes, four chromed cleats and an electric bilge pump.

It's obvious Princecraft paid a lot of attention to detail by including all the smaller items that make fishing experiences more enjoyable. These thoughtful appointments actually mean the difference between having a good time and being prepared with the fish start to strike. For added convenience, the company does offer a series of options including a sun top, pedestal seat post and the choice of a painted or galvanized trailer to broaden your fishing horizons.

If you decide to choose the maximum power rating of the 135 horses from Mercury Marine, then you're set for a full day on the water.
