SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
It is easy to
forget just how vast our wonderful country is, and accordingly,
how incredibly diverse Canadian power boating can be. Canada
offers fresh water and ocean shores, huge lakes and small
meandering rivers. Power boating can mean vastly different
things depending on where you are - a fact that becomes readily
apparent as we salute summer with this feature-packed issue.
For
example, our cover story focuses on Silverton's exciting new
48 Convertible - a spacious, luxurious boat with the features,
comforts and fuel capacity to make it ideal for extended cruises
just about anywhere. Yet just a few pages away, you'll find
our comprehensive tests of Monterey's new Montura 208si and
Campion's Allante LS 645i - two great bowriders that are ideal
for summer weekends at the lake. And for those who would rather
spend their time behind the boat than in it, we offer a full
review of Correct Craft's hot new ski craft, the Air Nautique
216. It's a dream boat for anyone with skis or a board.
I did
mention power boating was incredibly diverse here, didn't
I?
There's
more - be sure to check out our evaluation of Formula's exciting
400SS sport cruiser, which offers a unique blend of stylish
appointments with thrilling performance. And for all-around
fun on the water, editor Steve Fennell presents a six-pack
of exciting center consoles that are at home anywhere. So
no matter where you enjoy your boat, you'll find something
just for you in this issue.
Die-hard
anglers will be sure to enjoy Jo-Ann Searls' account of her
recent experience at Genmar/Evinrude's Backwater Fishing School.
Our continuing coverage of diesel heavy-weights on page 67
presents all the facts, whether you're looking at a new boat
or thinking about re-powering your existing one. And don't
miss our review of Honda's new Pilot SUV, one of this year's
most intriguing tow vehicles.
Of course,
I'm saving the best for last. For some time we've all seen
advertisements and television commercials mentioning Mercury's
mysterious Lake X - the carefully-guarded testing grounds
for the company's secretive R&D division. Join us on page
56 as we go behind closed doors and explore this history-rich
facility that few have ever seen.
For more
than 18 years, Power Boating Canada has built a reputation
for consistently presenting a wide spectrum of exciting articles
that appeal to boaters everywhere. I hope you enjoy reading
this issue as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you.
