There's no doubt about it. Princecraft boats are built
to last. Each model is constructed with what the company
calls its three-step assembly process, involoving
a series of welds and rivets with aircraft-type adhesives
to provide a true hull shape and maximum strength.
Add the H36 aluminum construction for exceptional
durability and you have a model almost as tough as
the Six Million Dollar Man. But for far less the cost.
The 186 is the latest addition to the company's Platinum
series and features many unique innovations for serious
anglers and family boaters alike.
Like
all Princecraft models, The 186's hull boasts a wide
bottom to deliver quicker planing and provide increased
stability, floor space plus a greater load capacity.
In fact, the manufacturer's weight ratings reveal
it can handle a capacity of 1345 pounds. Not bad for
a model with a centreline length of only 18'4"
and beam of 94 inches.
Where this model really shines is in the cockpit.
An innovative feature is its 60/40 full-width aft
bench. A Princecraft first, this seat can conveniently
fold out and up from under the aft platform. When
not in use, you can simply fold the seat back under
and use the platform as a casting deck. The seating
layout also includes three deluxe folding seats midships,
to port and at the helm. All three seats feature cargo
nets and are connected to a floor base. For added
security, the bases are thru-bolted and reinforced
with back-up plates. The helm chair boasts sliding
rails to accommodate drivers of all sizes.
The ergonomically-designed helm is enhanced by a tilt
wheel with the No-Feedback steering system and a Lowrance
X-51 fish/depth finder. Opt for the dual throttles
and you can conveniently control the main engine as
well as the kicker motor. Back-lit Faria gauges are
conveniently organized for easy viewing. A nice touch,
with tach, fuel flow, hourmeter, fuel log, a digital
trim gauge, engine temperature and oil pressure, is
the Pilot Digital multi-function gauge.
Enter the wraparound walk-thru windshield and you'll
find more seating in the bow. Handy bow rails are
mounted port and starboard. The deck insert which
is placed in between the two bench seats is a smart
idea. This creates a raised casting deck and features
a mount to place a seat pedestal. Other items include
an ice chest plus storage compartment to house the
two deep-cycle batteries.
For serious anglers, the 186 is a dream, in addition
to the seven-foot lockable rod storage compartment
and 24V bow trolling control panel, there's plenty
of room for fish, or bait, in the 64-litre dual Pro-Flo
livewell at the bow and a 68-litre Pro-Flo livewell
at the stern.
While the 186 offers plenty of standards, options
like the waterski tow bar and swim platform can enhance
family enjoyment. If you want more amenities, the
186 is available in an SE series which includes a
CD player, hydraulic steering, Mercury SmartCraft
gauges with Troll Control, an on-board battery charger
and a deluxe trailer with disc brakes.
Whether or not you choose the options, the 186 is
will be ready for some serious excitement season after
season.
