A SUCCESSFUL END TO THE SEASON!
After an action-packed summer, I am
happy to announce the season came to a close with great success.
Power Boating Canada's silent and live auction, a fundraiser for
the Hospital for Sick Children Foundation held September 13 on the
evening prior to our Lake Ontario Hall of Fame Poker Run, raised
over $65,000! We would like to extend our gratitude to all the prize-sponsors
and participants who helped make this one of the most successful
fundraisers in Power Boating Canada history.
September also
marked the return of the Toronto and Port Credit In-Water Boat Shows.
These post-summer events drew numerous crowds and gave great indication
that power boating is still ranked as one of the most popular and
exciting pastimes of the season. But the excitement doesn't stop
there.
This is the
time of year when manufacturers begin to fill dealer showrooms with
factory-fresh 2003 models. And, judging by what we've seen and heard,
the new model year promises to be an exciting one. From sleek cruisers
to practical runabouts and deckboats, manufacturers have crossed
all boundaries in design techniques to deliver sheer boating pleasure.
But before
you even begin to browse the new entries, be sure to start right
here with this latest issue of Power Boating Canada. After several
months of attending dealer meetings and special invitation-only
launches, our test team has returned with inside information on
the latest and greatest of the new model year. The action starts
on page 35 with our Showcase 2003 preview. This section highlights
the hottest new entries. Whether you fish, ski or simply cruise
and enjoy the boating lifestyle, there's bound to be a model geared
for you and your family. Make a point to visit your nearest dealer
for more information.
Also in this
issue, PBC's long-time contributor, Dusty Miller, visited Lefroy,
ON to test Monterey's 298 SS bowrider. Powered by twin 350 MAG MerCruisers,
this next-generation bowrider is well worth a closer look. Join
Doug Dawson at the helm of Sea Ray's latest entry, the 390 aft cabin
MY. This newcomer is only the second aft cabin model introduced
by Sea Ray within the past few years and is just another example
of the builder's fine craftmanship. Plus, we feature a special report
by Bill Jennings on Bombardier's 2003 225 hp H.O. Evinrude. After
reading the results of this power-test, you'll be amazed with the
technology that awaits you in 2003.
