Choosing Proper Performance
by
Steve Horsfall
I
am currently refitting a 1986 KMV 1700 hardtop. Original decals
will be replaced with reproductions of the earlier KMV Vital 1700
Dromedille markings to clean up the overall look. The top has been
replaced with a unit from Canadian Canopy and the rub rails have
been duplicated by Wefco Rubber Manufacturing in California. The
seats have been replaced by Garelick 420s and the gas tank (portable
tank) storage area is ventilated with venturi vents on each side
of the hull connected by hose that sits a bilge level. Should I
install a bilge blower to one vent or is the current set-up sufficient?
I will also be replacing the bilge pump, what size do you suggest?

Dew It Clean
Question 2:
We have a 1992 Doral 255 MC with a light grey coloured Sunbrella-type
material roof. When we purchased the boat it came with a roof that
was seldom ever used and in new condition. The only problem is that
there are mildew stains on the inside. It is not practical to replace
the entire roof because of the stains, but I am concerned that I
will damage the material with a harsh cleaner. Is there a cleaner
that you could recommend?

Questions 3:
You have helped me in the past and I thank you again. This time
I have purchased a 20-foot Baretta. My problem is I would like to
try and restore the faded colour of the fibreglass. The boat is
a cream colour with wide brown stripes. I have tried a couple of
different compounds with no success. If you can help in any way
I would appreciate it.
Can you
also tell me if the Baretta boat is still made? The model number
is MH-200-RI. She is a 1900 midel.
